The Eastern Caribbean Collective Organisation for Music Rights (ECCO) Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dougal “D Fresh” Allen, professionally known as Meggawattz, as its official licensing agent in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. In this role, Allen will be responsible for overseeing the licensing of music use, ensuring compliance with copyright laws and regulations, and strengthening ECCO’s presence in the country.
A distinguished music producer and the founder of Meggawattz Productions, Allen has been a driving force in the Vincentian music industry since 2005. His extensive experience in the dancehall and soca genres, along with his collaborations with both local and international artists, makes him an ideal advocate for music rights. Among his notable achievements, Allen co-produced “Wineing Freestyle” by Hypa 4000 in 2020 and “Voices” by R3cka in 2016, further solidifying his reputation as a pioneer in the industry.
In his capacity as ECCO’s licensing agent, Allen will be tasked with representing ECCO in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to promote the appropriate collective management of performing rights. His responsibilities will include issuing licences to music users, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring that businesses and event organisers comply with ECCO’s music usage regulations and the copyright act of SVG. Additionally, Allen will provide reports on licensing activities, infringements, and other relevant updates, reinforcing ECCO’s commitment to protecting the rights of its members in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and affiliates across the globe.
