The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) has signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the Government of Romania.
Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves announced the signings on Monday April 7th, 2025 during a press briefing at Cabinet Room and noted that the MOUs were signed with the respective Romanian ministers during his visit last week
The MOUs cover Tertiary Education and Research, Agriculture and Fisheries, Health, Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Management and Foreign Affairs and Diplomatic Cooperation, including the establishment of modalities for periodic meetings between foreign ministers of both countries.
While in Romania, Dr. Gonsalves met with Romanian Prime Minister Ion Marcel Ciolacu.
“I had a very important engagement with him, one on one, with only an interpreter present where we traversed many important issues relating to global affairs, Europe, Ukraine, what’s happening in Latin America and the Caribbean, recent developments in the United States of America and so on and so forth,” Dr. Gonsalves explained.
“It’s always very, very good to have these perspectives out of which certain conclusions are drawn, and to see if we could be on the same page incorporating with one another in practical ways,” Prime Minister Dr. Gonsalves said
Prime Minister Gonsalves also visited the Transilvania University of Brașov, located approximately two and a half hours from Bucharest, where he met with three Vincentian students currently studying in Romania.
Two of these students are pursuing Master’s degrees, while another is completing a Bachelor’s degree.
