April 22, 2025 – Kingstown: A 41-year-old Colombian national, Mateo Florez, has been arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
According to police reports, on April 16, 2025, Florez, a retiree, was allegedly found in possession of a cutlass along the Rose Bank Public Road without lawful excuse and with intent to commit an offence.
He appeared before the Layou Magistrate Court on April 17, 2025. Following the hearing, the court ordered that he be admitted to the Mental Health Centre for a two-week evaluation.
The matter has been adjourned to May 2, 2025
