SUNDAY, JUNE 22, 2025 — The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services has issued a Weather Statement warning of potentially severe weather beginning this evening and tonight, as a moisture surge linked to an approaching tropical wave moves across the region.
Residents can expect:
Increasing cloudiness
Periods of rain
Moderate to heavy showers
Thunderstorms
Strong/gusty winds
Sea conditions are also expected to deteriorate, with moderate to rough seas and swells between 1.8m to 3.0m in open waters overnight.
Rainfall totals could reach 50–75mm (2–3 inches) over the next 24 hours, with isolated higher amounts that may lead to flash flooding and landslides. The Met Services warns that a Flash-Flood Watch may be issued if conditions worsen.
Who Should Take Precaution:
Residents near rivers, streams, and hillsides
Motorists in flood-prone zones
Small craft operators and sea-bathers
Rough seas and gusty winds pose risks to marine interests and beachgoers. Extreme caution is advised.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Monday, but the public is urged to stay alert.
