A 36-year-old farmer from Greiggs has been fined and bonded after pleading guilty to the theft of a mobile phone.
Newkins Roberts Maloney was arrested and charged by police on June 26, 2025, for stealing a purple Samsung Galaxy S21 valued at £300. The device belonged to a 32-year-old sales clerk from Barrouallie. The theft occurred in Kingstown on June 24, 2025.
Maloney appeared before the Mesopotamia Magistrate’s Court on Friday, June 27, where he pleaded guilty to the offence. He was fined EC$500, with EC$250 to be paid immediately or face three months in prison in default.
In addition to the fine, the court bonded Maloney for one year in the sum of EC$900. Should he breach the terms of the bond, he will serve five months at His Majesty’s Prison.
