An eyewitness to Wednesday’s fatal shooting at the Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union (KCCU) is raising serious concerns about the actions of a security officer moments before the incident turned deadly.
> “I’m not sure what exactly happened outside, but inside was already full, so the guard was asking everyone where they were going.
One man said he was heading to Customer Service. I don’t know if he went there, but others said he did.
Later, I saw the same man standing quietly in the teller line. The security approached him, said he lied, and tried to pull him out the line.
The man knocked his hand away and told him, ‘Don’t touch me.’ He wasn’t shouting or threatening anyone.
As a security, you can’t just put hands on people like that. It wasn’t fair. He was standing quietly — not a threat to anyone,”
the witness told ANN, requesting anonymity.
“I haven’t slept since it happened. The whole thing keeps replaying in my head.”
The man referenced in the account has been identified as Shernard Gloster, a 47-year-old resident of Keartons, Barrouallie. According to police, Gloster had gone to the credit union to conduct business when an altercation occurred between him and an on-duty security officer, which tragically resulted in Gloster being shot and killed.
