Kingstown, St. Vincent – July 11, 2025 – The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) has officially charged 60-year-old security guard Wadie Simon of Brighton with the murder of Shernard Gloster, 47, of Keartons, Barrouallie.
According to a statement issued by the RSVGPF, the charge was laid on Thursday, July 10, at the Major Crime Unit in Kingstown. Preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation occurred between Mr. Simon and Mr. Gloster at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Kingstown Cooperative Credit Union (KCCU) headquarters.
During the incident, Mr. Simon, who was on duty at the time, allegedly discharged his firearm, fatally wounding Mr. Gloster. A medical practitioner later pronounced Mr. Gloster dead at the scene. Officers from both the Crime Scene Unit and the Major Crime Unit responded and processed the location. Mr. Simon was taken into custody shortly after.
A post-mortem conducted on Thursday confirmed that Mr. Gloster died from exsanguination due to a gunshot wound to the chest.
Mr. Simon appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Friday, July 11. He was not required to enter a plea, as the charge is indictable. The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, July 22, 2025, for a status update and to set a date for the preliminary inquiry. He was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison.
The RSVGPF has extended condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gloster and thanked the public for their cooperation during the ongoing investigation.
