The upcoming secondary schools at Orange Hill and Brighton will mark a bold step in St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ ongoing education revolution. Minister of Finance, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves, announced that these institutions will deliver not just incremental changes but a “radical and transformative advancement” in the classroom experience.

Speaking on the future of education, Minister Gonsalves emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding the curriculum and fostering greater inclusion. “The evolution of the classroom experience has been incremental to date. What we are trying to do now is go beyond that—to something revolutionary,” he said.

The Brighton Secondary School will particularly emphasize Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Arts, especially music. Designed to accommodate approximately 500 students, the institution will be constructed with climate-resilient specifications and outfitted with modern learning technologies, including audio-visual systems and accessible, spacious classrooms.

According to the Minister, the school will also feature:

    A well-equipped library

Dedicated science, culinary arts, and computer laboratories

    TVET training spaces

    A music studio

    A gymnasium and showers

    Sickbay

    Agricultural plot

    Storage rooms and parking facilities

Importantly, the TVET facilities will also be open to the surrounding communities, promoting broader access to skills training.

“We hope the Brighton school becomes a magnet for students interested in TVET and Music,” Minister Gonsalves concluded.
