Kingstown – August 5, 2025:
Orris Smith, a 30-year-old labourer from Byrea, has been fined and handed a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to multiple offences, including impersonation and driving while disqualified.
Police arrested Smith on August 2, following investigations into a July 28 incident in which he falsely identified himself as Desron May of Sandy Bay in an attempt to deceive a 35-year-old businesswoman from Richland Park. The offence occurred in Kingstown.
Further charges stemmed from a July 31 incident in Georgetown, where Smith was found driving motor vehicle RZ-983 without insurance and while under a one-year driving disqualification.
Appearing before the Calliaqua Magistrate Court on August 4, Smith pleaded guilty to all charges. He received a four-month prison sentence for impersonation, suspended for 12 months. He was also fined EC$2,000 for driving without insurance and EC$5,000 for driving while disqualified, both payable within six months. Defaulting on payments could result in three and six months imprisonment respectively
