Kingstown, August 7, 2025 – Police have arrested and charged 43-year-old farmer Avil Slater of Vermont with the offence of assault.
According to reports, on June 12, 2025, Slater allegedly struck a 63-year-old female farmer—also of Vermont—on the left side of her face, causing actual bodily harm.
Slater appeared before the Serious Offences Court on August 7, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. His station bail remains in effect.
The matter has been adjourned and transferred to the Layou Magistrate Court for hearing on August 21, 2025.
