Two people are dead following an incident at Diamond that police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide.

According to a One News SVG report, the tragedy unfolded near the seaside in Diamond, where a house was set ablaze with two individuals inside. One of the victims, identified as Natakie Haynes, is believed to have been deceased before the fire began.

Reports indicate the deceased man and woman had an altercation earlier this week. The woman allegedly contacted police, who attended the scene. In the presence of officers, the man is said to have threatened to kill her and then ingest Gramoxone.

Community members believe Haynes may have died as early as Friday, August 8, though this has not been officially confirmed.

In the early hours of Saturday, August 9, the man — identified only as Junior — allegedly locked himself inside the house with the woman’s body, poured a flammable substance around the building, and set it on fire.

Residents say several individuals attempted to stop him before he entered the house, but he allegedly repelled them with a sharp object.

The nature of the relationship between the two deceased remains unclear.

Police and other authorities continue to investigate.
