August 11, 2025 – Kingstown: The Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) proudly announces the successful completion and official handover of Phase Two of its new Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system. The ceremony, which included the presentation of a bucket truck, was held on August 8, 2025, at the Questelles Police Station.

    Speakers at the event underscored the importance of these technological advancements in strengthening public safety.

    Commissioner Envill Williams reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to enhancing security through innovative technology. He expressed sincere gratitude to the government of Taiwan for its generous support, noting that the new system will serve generations to come. He also thanked the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) for their pivotal roles in the project.

    Commissioner Williams praised police officers and ITSD personnel for their dedication and willingness to embrace the new technology, highlighting their thorough training in maintaining and supervising the CCTV system. He emphasized that the strategically placed cameras are intended solely to enhance public safety and deter criminal activity, without infringing on privacy.

    Her Excellency Fiona Huei-Chun, Ambassador of Taiwan, commended the collaboration between RSVGPF and ITSD, highlighting the expanded installation of cameras, including on the islands of Bequia and Union Island. She explained that the idea for acquiring the bucket truck emerged after observing the risks workers faced during installation. The bucket truck, formally handed over during the ceremony by Ambassador Huei-Chun to Commissioner Williams, was donated to ensure the safety of personnel servicing the cameras. Ambassador Huei-Chun reiterated the shared vision of creating a safer, smarter, and stronger St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
