Kari Da Silva of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. She will begin her studies this August at North Carolina State University, where she will pursue a Master’s degree in Food Science with a focus on food safety and sustainability.
Currently serving as a Rural Development Officer, Da Silva has dedicated her work to improving food systems, particularly through efforts to reduce food waste and strengthen food safety practices. Her academic journey in the United States is expected to further equip her with the skills and expertise needed to raise industry standards and promote healthier communities across the region.
The Fulbright Program, sponsored by the U.S. government, is recognized as one of the world’s most competitive exchange initiatives. Each year, it provides opportunities for outstanding scholars, professionals, and students to study, teach, and conduct research internationally, with the goal of fostering mutual understanding and collaboration across cultures.
