A young woman from Belair is urging authorities to step up police patrols in villages after she was assaulted by a masked man on Wednesday evening while returning home from work.
The resident, who spoke to ANN, said this is not the first time she has been attacked. She revealed that she was also assaulted along the road sometime last year and had made a report to the police, but no measures were taken to increase security patrols in the area.
Recounting the latest incident, the woman explained that a man dressed in all black approached her and began wrestling with her. She managed to fight back and sprayed mace in his face before running to safety. A passing driver eventually stopped and gave her a ride home — an act for which she expressed deep gratitude.
She is now appealing not only to law enforcement but also to employers, urging them to assist in ensuring workers get home safely.
The survivor is also calling on women to remain vigilant and cautious when traversing the roads, particularly during evening hours.
