Raffie Sardine and her mother, Alicia Sardine, are fearful for their lives following a brutal attack that left Raffie nursing 23 stab wounds, allegedly inflicted by her ex-boyfriend, police officer Kyle Niblett.
Speaking to ANN on Monday, Raffie described the trauma and fear that continue to haunt her as she recovers.
“How am I supposed to live my life when they let him go? The look on his face when he was stabbing me over and over was pure hatred and evil. He meant to kill me — he was furious when he found out I didn’t die,” she told ANN.
Raffie said she has no sense of protection and fears that if bail is granted, Niblett would return to finish what he started.
“I don’t even have an ounce of protection. When Calliaqua police had him, he wasn’t even in handcuffs , he was walking around like he did nothing. Are they going to wait until he kills me to take it seriously?” she told ANN.
Reliving the ordeal, Raffie said the struggle for her life lasted nearly an hour.
“I fought with that man for almost an hour because I could not let him kill me… I don’t even know where I got the strength from. He wouldn’t stop unless I was dead,” she told ANN.
Now, the emotional and physical scars keep her in constant fear.
“It’s scary. I can’t even sleep for more than 10–15 minutes. I’m scared, and I can’t show my mommy because I know she’s taking on so much — and she’s not young,” she told ANN.
Adding to her pain, Raffie says Niblett’s family has shown little genuine concern for her well-being.
His family isn’t even genuinely concerned — all they want is for me to pardon him,” she told ANN.
With her voice breaking, Raffie made a final desperate plea:
“I don’t want to die,” she told ANN.
Her mother, Alicia Sardine, also spoke to ANN, sharing her anguish and deep concern for her daughter’s safety.
“As a mother, this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face. I saw my child fighting for her life, and now every day I live in fear that he will come back and finish what he started. I can’t sleep, I can’t rest. All I want is for my daughter to be safe,” Alicia told ANN.
Both Raffie and her mother are calling for stronger protection and urgent action to prevent the worst from happening.
ANN was reliably informed that the accused has not utter a word since the incident he refused to answer any questions duting an interview on Sunday.
