Police Seek Public Assistance in Investigation of Woman’s Death in Longwall

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information following the death of 43-year-old Sharon Elizabeth Ashton, a domestic worker from Longwall.

According to a police press release, Ashton’s body was discovered at approximately 11:00 a.m. today at the back of her residence. “Police were alerted to the discovery of the adult female who was met lying motionless with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds,” the release says. The District Medical Officer attended the scene and pronounced her deceased. Following permission from the magistrate, the body was removed, and crime scene personnel processed the area.

The release notes that a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Police say the investigation is ongoing and urge anyone with relevant information to contact:
