Keys Handover To Port Authority For New Kingstown Port

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Port Authority (SVGPA) received the keys to the newly completed Kingstown Port facilities.
Two buildings, the Administration Building and the Container Freight Station (CFS), were officially handed over from the construction team to the Port Authority.
Minister of Urban Development Hon. Benarva Browne, said the port project marks a significant thrust forward for national development .
Project Manager of Aecon Construction Tam Smith, praised the collaborative effort of all stakeholders that ensured the successful delivery of the project’s first phase.
Prime Minister Dr. Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves, underscored the economic impact and opportunities the modernized port will bring to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Key Infrastructure Delivered
• Administration Building

o Dimensions: 64m x 19.3m (210 ft x 64 ft)
o Total floor area: 3,600 m² (40,000 ft²) over three floors
o Estimated value: USD 12 million
• Container Freight Station (CFS)

o Total floor area: 1,560 m² (16,900 ft²)
o Estimated value: USD 5 million
• Other Key Buildings

o Break Bulk Warehouse: 1,200 m² (13,000 ft²) | Estimated value: USD 4 million
o Workshop & Maintenance Facility: 1,100 m² (11,500 ft²) | Estimated value: USD 5.5 million
All facilities were constructed using modern steel-framed structures, designed to meet the growing demands of regional and international shipping while improving efficiency, safety, and operational capacity.
The completion of these key facilities marks a critical step forward in the Government’s mission to transform Kingstown Port into a world-class maritime hub, opening doors to new opportunities for trade, employment, and economic growth.
