A video now circulating across St. Vincent and the Grenadines shows a man shouting expletives in the presence of Attorney General Grenville Williams. It is a national embarrassment. The country’s chief legal officer, the holder of one of the highest offices of state, was publicly disrespected in a way that has brought shame to the position and lowered its standing in the eyes of the public.

The Office of the Attorney General is meant to represent dignity, discipline, and the authority of the law. That video shows the opposite. It shows an office stripped of respect. It shows how far standards have fallen.

Grenville Williams must resign. His continued presence as Attorney General has brought the office into disrepute. No amount of explanation can erase the fact that the holder of that office has become a figure of public ridicule. The only honourable course left is to step aside.

And Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves should be ashamed. He should have known this would happen. He should have acted the moment Williams declared his political ambition. Instead, he did nothing, and his silence has allowed one of the country’s most important institutions to be dragged into disgrace.

This is not about politics. It is about leadership, judgment, and respect for the offices that uphold the state. The Attorney General must resign, and the Prime Minister must answer for why he let this humiliation happen.
