Police are investigating the discovery of two bodies found inside a silver car in the Fenton Mountains on Monday afternoon, a grim development on the 46th anniversary of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ independence.

According to sources close to the investigation, the deceased appear to be in their early 20s — an adult male and an adult female. Both reportedly had gunshot wounds, although police noted that no spent shells were found at the scene.

The source indicated there are signs of a struggle, as both bodies appeared black and blue. It is possible, they said, that other individuals were involved in the incident.

The female victim is reported to be a conductor in the Belair area. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the male victim.

Earlier on Monday, police also launched a homicide investigation into the death of 42-year-old Uriah Fields, a security guard and fisherman from Diamond, marking a troubling string of deaths within a 24-hour period.
