Prime Minister Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves has announced that the next general election in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
The declaration came on Tuesday night (October 28) before a massive crowd of Unity Labour Party (ULP) supporters at the Richmond Hill Playing Field, marking the official start of the election campaign.
Earlier in the day, Parliament was dissolved, clearing the way for Vincentians to head to the polls. Nomination Day has been set for Monday, November 10, 2025.
In his address, Dr. Gonsalves reaffirmed his commitment to national development and stability, outlining his vision for the next phase of progress in the country.
> “We have come a long way together — building homes, schools, hospitals, roads, and opportunities for all Vincentians. Now is the time to strengthen what we have built and move forward with confidence and unity,”
said Dr. Gonsalves, as supporters erupted in applause.
The ULP, which has been in office since March 2001, will be seeking an unprecedented sixth consecutive term in government. Dr. Gonsalves, 79, has repeatedly said that his government’s record of social investment, infrastructure development, and regional leadership speaks for itself.
Political observers note that the upcoming election will be a crucial test for both the ruling party and the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP), led by Dr. Godwin Friday, who has been calling for change and promising new leadership for the nation.
The campaign period is expected to intensify over the coming weeks, with both major parties set to hold rallies, constituency meetings, and manifesto launches.
The Electoral Office is expected to release further details regarding the official voters’ list and polling procedures in the coming days.
