The Income Tax Amendment Bill, was passed in Parliament today. This comes as the Government continues its thrust to improve the administrative efficiency of its system of taxation. The Bill was tabled by Minister of Finance Camillo Gonsalves who explained that the Amendment was intended to address deficiencies within the existing legislation. The Drug (Prevention of Misuse) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and the Child Justice Bill, 2019 received their first reading and were sent to Select Committees. Parliament has been adjourned until Thursday May 2nd, at 10:00am.

A Song entitled “Climate Action” was launched here last week, as the United Nations Development Program {UNDP} is seeking to raise awareness on the effects of Climate Change. The Song was written and performed by Vincentians Adrian Wright, Danielle Veira and Damion McTair and produced in collaboration with the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Music Professionals SVG AMP. It is part of a Climate Change Public Education Program, being implemented by the UNDP Japan Caribbean Climate Change Partnership. The Climate Action Song will be disseminated to local Radio and Television Stations and is available via UNDP online platforms.

As National Heroes and Heritage month 2019 comes to an end, the Ministry of Culture is appealing to Vincentians to celebrate local Heroes who have made a significant contribution to national development. A month of activities will be carried out by the National Emergency Management Organisation NEMO in April, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the last eruption of La Soufriere.
