ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today paid tribute to Irvin Warrican, the former St Vincent & Grenadines and Windward Islands allrounder, coach and team manager. He passed away in his homeland St Vincent early on Sunday. Warrican played six first-class matches as an off-spinner and middle-order batter for Windward Islands between 1991 and 1995. Following his retirement, he was a highly-respected coach and team manager. During the ongoing West Indies Rising Stars Under 19 Championship, the teams also held a moment of silence in his honour. MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — At least 10 people were killed in an attack by Islamic militants who stormed a hotel in Somalia’s capital late Friday, police and eyewitnesses said. Motorists in Barbados is paying less for gasoline and diesel, effective midnight Thursday, August 18. The retail price of gasoline will be $4.39 per litre, which is a saving of 44 cents, while diesel will decrease by 43 cents, to $3.85 per litre. Kerosene remains at $2.36 per litre. Given the high volatility associated with refined petroleum products, Government has decided to cap the retail prices of gasoline and diesel at $4.48 per litre and $4.03 per litre, respectively.
