The reports in the media, what we may have heard about others and/or even some persons’ own experiences, may reveal to us that amongst other things, the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors by adults is a very serious problem in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG). However, what may sexual abuse and sexual exploitation in the context of the laws of SVG mean? Section 2 of SVG’s Domestic Violence Act, 2015, states that sexual abuse “means any sexual conduct that abuses, humiliates, degrades or otherwise violates the sexual integrity of the applicant”. Moreover, section 2 of SVG’s Prevention of…

Lacoda Bath and Sparkles is a true testament of what can happen when drive and opportunity is combined to satisfy a persistent need, in any enabling environment. Alithea Gibson, the self-taught natural skin care treatment specialist, told Asbert News Network in an exclusive interview, “our business started 3 years ago when I tried a commercial brand soap and I got an allergic reaction. I decided I was tired of getting these different reactions –itching, burning – from these soaps so I told my husband that I was going to learn make soaps.” Alithea spent some time conducting her research phase…
In light of the fact that my name is now being mentioned frequently in the local media, I wish to state that I plan to contest the Marriaqua seat for the NDP again, once chosen as the candidate. In the last two elections, as the candidate for the NDP, the number of votes for the NDP in the Marriaqua Constituency showed a consistent increase of approximately 30% over the previous candidate. If the claims of election riggings are true, the Marriaqua seat would definitely have been won by the NDP. I am prepared to work even harder this coming election…

The bleak picture was painted by the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), which represents the Barbadian commercial flyers. An agreement reached Monday night by the four shareholder governments – Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda – to sell the three planes owned by LIAT and charged to the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) was part…
