    Unions expected to picket parliament for budget

    At least two trade unions here are planning to stage pickets outside of parliament during the laying of the Estimates of Expenditure and Revenue and the 2019 Budget presentation and debate later this month, usually reliabe
    sources say.
    Information disclosed indicate that the Public Service Union (PSU) and the St Vincent and the Grenadines
    Teachers Union (SVGTU) have held talks about a joint picket.
    It is also said that a third organization may be joining the picket but there has so far been no confirmation.
    Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves announced recently that Minister of Finance Camillo Gonsalves will lay the
    2019 Estimates of Expenditure and Revenue January 23rd and and he will present the 2019 budget on January
    29th.
    The PSU and SVGTU have scheduled a joint press conference for Tuesday January 8th, 2019, to be held at the
    SVGTU’s headquarters at Mc Kie’s Hill at 2 p.m.
