(Trinidad Express )AN Arouca man was shot and killed on Monday night by bullets belonging to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
This one day after police officers retrieved TTPS ammunition in that same area.
The deceased has been identified as Garvey Campo, 38.
He had addresses at Jargon Village, Santa Cruz, and Windy Hill, Arouca.
At around 11 p.m. police responded to a report of gunshots at River Road, via Mountain View, Windy Hill.
On arrival they met a resident who showed officers a wooden house with a black Toyota Hilux parked out front.
The officers entered the house and discovered Campo with gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen.
He was taken to the Arima District Health Facility and pronounced dead.
Police retrieved 12 spent nine millimetre shells with the TTPS markings.
Officers of the Northern Division CSI responded and found workable fingerprints at the house
Sgt Ramsumair is investigating the case.
On Sunday two men from Arima were arrested with 23 rounds of nine millimetre TTPS issued ammunition.
The suspects were in a vehicle travelling along Arima Old Road in Arouca.
Officers of the Northern Division Task Force intercepted their vehicle and found a Glock pistol with an extended magazine and the ammunition.
TTPS Social and Welfare Association president Insp Michael Seales had said on Monday that the find was ‘troubling’.
