A technical mission from the Food and Agriculture Organization
is currently visiting St. Vincent & The Grenadines.
Stephanie Elder Alexander, Land Administration Specialist with
the FAO, met yesterday with officials of the Ministry of
Agriculture at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Kingstown.

Also attending the meeting were Ryan Nanton, National Project
Co-ordinator, Dr. Coleen Phillips local FAO Co-ordinator and
Aurelie Bres, FAO Lead Technical Officer, all members of the
Steering Committee of the Land Bank Project.

The main objectives of the FAO Technical Mission are to
discuss and validate operational procedures for the proposed
Land Bank Project, train key staff and produce operational
    guidelines.

The Land Bank Project is an initiative of the Food and
Agriculture Organization United Nations Sub-Regional Office
    for the Caribbean.

The project, which is being implemented across the Windward
Island territories of Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent & the
Grenadines, is meant to boost agricultural production and reduce
    food importation in the sub-region.
