The Ministry of Agriculture will host the launch of the Resilient Environment and Agricultural Caribbean Habitats (REACH) today
The project is aimed at enhancing the capability of small farmers and their communities to organize Agricultural Disaster Risk Management initiatives to enhance their resilience to shocks and hazards.
The REACH Project will be implemented over a ten month period ending December 31st, 2019, and builds on existing institutional experience at the national and regional levels.
It is being implemented through a partnership between the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency CDEMA; the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology; the Food and Agriculture Organization and other Agencies.
The launch event will take place at the Methodist Church Hall in Kingstown from nine this morning.
Minister of Agriculture, Saboto Caesar, will deliver the Keynote Address.
Remarks will be also be delivered by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture – Raymond Ryan; Chief Agricultural Officer – Ashley Cain; Deputy Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency – Elizabeth Riley, and Disaster Risk Management Specialist – Danielle Barelli.
