The new date for the queen of calypso competition is not sitting well with at least one calypso activity.
At a media conference on Wednesday, president of the SVG Calypso association Mr.Earl Bennett explained that they were forced to host the queen of Calypso on the June 7th, the same date when the dynamite calypso tent in New York will host their first major event.
He said the queen of Calypso competition was originally slated to take place on a June 8th but they move it up a day ahead because of a competing private event to be held at the Victoria Park.
MR BENNETT told the Media ” not even the CDC knows what’s going with the Private event”.
Gailene Windsor, a representative of the New York-based Dynamite Calypso Tent made it clear that their members are not happy with the change.
PRO, of the National Calypso Association ROBERT ‘PATCHES’ KING, Said that a private event should’ve never been allowed to take place at the Victoria park when a CDC show would be held.
