KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, June 5, 2019- Christal Oliver, Creative Director of Olive Art Designs, joined a delegation of twenty young Caribbean entrepreneurs at the 2019 Caribbean StartUp Summit, held in Barbados from May 24-25, 2019.

Over the course of two days, the business-owners, ranging from fashion designers to technology startup founders, attended a series of sessions featuring regional and international speakers who spoke under the theme Mindset, Skillset, Reset. Through these talks, the attendees were exposed to new ideas around attracting financial investors, design thinking and the importance of maintaining positive mindsets for business success. The entrepreneurs also had the opportunity to network with seasoned business leaders and representatives from non-governmental organisations as well as to discuss the challenges of running a startup in their respective countries and the developing regional business landscape.

Oliver describes the summit as an enlightening experience adding, “It’s always a pleasure meeting new people and learning of different experiences within the entrepreneurship world. I would be back if I can!”

The entrepreneurs representing the islands of Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, were winners of the US Embassy Bridgetown’s Caribbean StartUp Summit Competition, announced earlier this year. Chosen based on a 90 second video pitching their businesses, the delegates received a fully funded trip to Ten Habitat’s Caribbean StartUp Summit. Oliver was one of two delegates chosen from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
