Police are investigating reports of robbery and a suspected kidnapping in Piarco.
The victim is a 50-year-old Chinese businessman of Millennium Lake, Trincity.
According to police reports, around 4 am on Wednesday, police responded to the report of a robbery at a bar along the Southern Main Road, Cunupia.
When officers arrived, they observed that the place had been ransacked and that a quantity of cash was missing.
However, there did not appear to be any sign of forced entry into the business.
Further inquiries revealed that the owner of the bar, a Chinese businessman, had left his Trincity home around 12:15 that morning in his green BMW X6 to drop off a relative at the Piarco International Airport.
Police officers learned that later that morning, two masked suspects were seen entering his home with what appeared to be the man’s keys.
They robbed the occupants of the home of an undisclosed amount of cash and several valuable items.
At 8 pm on Wednesday, police received intelligence which led them to John Street, off Madras Road, St Helena, where the businessman’s BMW X6 was found.
The vehicle was seized by a team of officers led by Sgt Figaro.
Checks were made in the immediate area and environs for the owner but he was not found.
