The most important thing, going into the upcoming general elections, is that the people are ready.
President of the opposition New Democratic Party Dr Godwin Friday expressed the view while on the party’s New Times interactive programme on NICE Radion Monday.
Dr Friday’s comment came amid criticisms of the party’s state of readiness going into the general elections which, according to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves, will be held by December this year.
“This whole notion about NDP readiness and all that, that is ULP propaganda. That is not the reality on the ground. So, those people who are supporters of the NDP you have to stop spouting that propaganda as well.

“Of course the NDP is ready,” Dr Friday said, adding that the party in opposition has been highlighting the issues affecting Vincentians for the past 18-19 years.
“We have people who are seasoned, who are ready to govern. We have people who are coming towards the party as candidates, who are advising, who want to see a change because they know they can be a part of the transformation,” Dr Friday said.
The political leader said the New Democratic Party can, and will, lead that change.
“And that is something the people of this country are believing and are thirsting for more and more. And that is why I’m so excited that they’ve turned the corner now.
We will try to get the elections pushed forward because we know that the longer this ULP government has been in power is the more damage that is being done to the economy and to the lives of the people of this country,” Dr Friday further stated.
