In an effort to alleviate some of the stress that emanated from the destruction of her house by fire on May 11, 2020, the Ex-police Association of New York rendered Police Constable Ascenia Barnwell and her family some well needed help which includes two (2) barrels and one (1) jumbo box of items.
In a brief handing over ceremony held at Police Headquarters on Tuesday August 25, 2020, retired Sergeant of Police, Mr. Francis Providence, proprietor of Providence Electronics and member of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Ex-Police Association expressed gratitude to his counterparts in New York for contributing significantly to the plight of Constable Barnwell and her family.
Commenting on the well needed contribution, Commissioner of Police Mr. Colin John, expressed appreciation to the Ex-police Association in New York for their contribution to a worthy cause. He commended the New York base Association for their continued support and cooperation with the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) whenever called upon and emphatically thanked them. He further noted that the contribution came at an opportune time and encouraged Constable Barnwell to put the contents to good use.
Chairman of the SVGPF Police Welfare Association (PWA) Corporal Lez Harry and Senior executive member, Sergeant Marilyn Burke also expressed heartfelt thanks to the Ex-Police Association in New York for assisting Constable Barnwell immensely. Corporal Harry believed that the Association has answered the call from senior members of PWA and uttered sincere appreciation for the donation.
Retired Commissioner of Police Mr. Michael Charles, President of the SVG Ex-Police Association expressed similar sentiments to the previous speakers on the contribution of the New York based Association and thanked them.
Recipient of the worthy donation, Constable Ascenia Barnwell thanked Almighty God for the assistance rendered to her family. She went on to express thanks to the New York based Association for their valuable contribution. She also thanked the SVGPF PWA for their initiative of reaching out to the Ex-Police Association of New York and thanked the Commissioner of Police for facilitating the process.
