Health Minister of the British Virgin Islands isn’t yet convinced that two
nationals of St Vincent and the Grenadines were exposed to the virus in the territory.
His remarks follow claims by SVG health authorities that two COVID-19 cases recently recorded had returned from the BVI.
Minister Malone said that has not yet been verified.
On September 12 St Vincent and the Grenadines health department issued a press release that said two returning nationals tested positive for COVID-19 two days after returning home from the BVI.
Minister Malone said in a Facebook post that St Vincent produced false reports before, so he would wait until the claims are verified by CARPHA.
Only then, he said, would his ministry issue an official statement on the matter.
“BVI will take the high road, in the interim, until such time as this preliminary report is finalised,” Minister Malone said.
