Over 100 staff members of Guyana’s National Assembly were tested for the coronavirus (COVID-19) and 14 results came back positive for the virus.
This was announced by Speaker of the National Assembly Manzoor Nadir today.
Last week, Nadir also tested positive for COVID-19.
He has been presiding over Parliamentary Sittings remotely.
The Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs was also tested and his result were negative.
Most of the staff members, who have now tested positive, are asymptomatic and in home isolation.
The Health Ministry is also tracing their contacts to determine if they have the virus.
There are over 580 active cases of COVID-19 in Guyana.
