Students at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) will after tomorrow find it much easier to access online teaching thanks to the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines which will tomorrow make some three thousand tablets available to students at the SVGCC.
Earlier this year, the government as a consequence of COVID-19 which exposed inequalities in access to online teaching as some students had no devices, made the decision at the level of parliament to make tablets available to all students and teachers to be used in education institutions.
An amount of EC$4,000,000.00 was initially allocated from the Central Government to assist with the purchase of thirty thousand devices. Digicel was awarded the contract to procure these tablets.
Approximately thirteen to fourteen hundred tablets would be distributed today . The distribution ceremony takes place at 8:30 am at the SVGCC, Villa Campus.
The distribution of tablets to secondary schools will follow that of the SVGCC.
