Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sharon Belmar-George, has announced confirmation of another three cases of COVID-19.
The announcement came in a statement reproduced below:
Today Tuesday November 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health received confirmation of three new cases of COVID-19.
This brings the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 226.
Case #224 is a 68 year old female from the Gros-Islet district
Case #225 is a 36 year old male from the Gros-Islet district
Case #226 is a 25 year old male from the Castries district
All of these individuals, after being assessed and tested for COVID-19, were placed in
quarantine by health practitioners while awaiting their test results.
At this point, the contact tracing team is in the process of investigating the presence of epidemiological links for these three cases.
As per protocol, arrangements have been made to place the confirmed cases into care.
The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce three recoveries for today November 24,
2020 bringing the new total number of active cases currently in country to 115. At
present, all of the active cases are stable and doing well.
The Ministry of Health recognizes the efforts of a wide cross section of our population in
improving adherence to the infection prevention and control guidelines.
There has been a notable improvement in adherence to protocols in public places.
As we move into the Christmas season it is important that we sustain and strengthen the efforts to minimize any potential exposure to the virus.
Ensure that there is the daily habit of:
– Washing and sanitizing hands often during the day
– Wearing a mask while in public and ensure it covers both the mouth and nose
– Maintaining the recommended six foot physical distance which is about two arm’s
– Sanitizing frequently touched surfaces often using a bleach solution
– Avoiding contact with other people who have flu-like symptoms
– If experiencing flu-like symptoms, keep away from others and seek medical care
immediately at the closest community respiratory clinic.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue providing updates as new information
