Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 23, 2024 (SKNIS): Upon returning from his recent overseas engagements today, April 23, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, met immediately with James Sutton, Commissioner of Police within the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and Commander Lt. Colonel J. Anthony Comrie, of the St. Kitts and Nevis Defense Force (SKNDF), to discuss the current security landscape and strategic responses to the nation’s crime situation. The meeting aimed to reinforce the government’s commitment to maintaining national safety and improving responses to criminal activities.
Prime Minister Drew was joined by the Attorney-General, the Honourable Garth Wilkin, and Glenroy Blanchette, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security. The high-level discussions focused on evaluating the latest updates and enhancing the strategic measures necessary to combat crime effectively across the nation.
Prime Minister Drew emphasized the government’s proactive stance.
“Upon my return, it was imperative to immediately assess our national security situation. My discussions with the relevant security bodies have reinforced our resolve to implement robust and dynamic strategies that address our current challenges head-on,” said the prime minister. “The safety and security of our citizens remain our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all.”
