This country on Tuesday May 18th, 2021, received 339 of 1333 packages  of medical and food supplies from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to assist in the relief and recovery efforts, after the explosive eruptions of the La Soufriere volcano.

This is the first of several shipments from the 30 tons of supplies to arrive in the state from the UAE.  The remaining shipments are expected to arrive here in a few days.

Minister of State with responsibility for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Keisal Peters was present at the AIA along with the Director of NEMO, Michelle Forbes and Chief Executive Officer of the AIA, Corsel Robertson to witness the arrival of the first batch of items.

The Minister expressed appreciation to the government and people of the United Arab Emirates for “standing in solidarity with the people and the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines since the explosive eruptions.”  Minister Peters said this country and the UAE have had “very good diplomatic relations” and have made a range of “agreements that have enabled mutual benefits.” Minister Peters alluded to the Pave Project that was funded by the government and people of the UAE, as well as their significant contribution to the Zero Hunger fund here.
