A 61-year-old woman has been left traumatized after she was robbed at the apartment where she was quarantining.
The woman whose 62nd birthday is two days away was staying at an apartment in Arnos Vale where she has stayed twice before.
The woman, who is a US citizen told ANN that around 3:30 this morning, she was packing in preparation to leave quarantine today (September 27), when an intruder entered her room with a key.
The intruder, who she described as a tall, slim male, wearing a hoodie, took all of her electronics, including two mobile phones, USD 2,700 cash, XCD 500, and USD 140 she had for someone. The robber also made off with all of her credit cards.
She also lost keys to her apartment in New York and in St. Vincent, and her Vincentian and US passports.
She said she has been left cashless and helpless.
The woman said that she is adamant that the intruder entered the room with a key. Immediately after the intruder ran off, she gave chase and cried out for help to no avail. It was not until she repeatedly knocked on the door of the owner that lived downstairs that someone was at her aid.
ANN understands that the security guard on duty at the apartment was asleep during the ordeal.
Police led the chase to find the perpetrator who was seen but managed to escape, ANN has been informed.
The 61-year-old said she had lived in the US for more than 30 years and has never experienced anything like it.
ANN will bring you more details as it comes to hand.
