Guyana is slowly approaching the numbers needed for the country to reach herd immunity against coronavirus (COVID-19).

Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony revealed during this morning’s COVID-19 Update that 361,626 adults have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine.

This represents 70.5 per cent of adults.

Around 209,506 people or 57.9 per cent of adults are fully vaccinated.

Just about 24,939 (34.2 per cent) teens and pre-teens have received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccines that were donated by the United States.

About 12, 762 of that group is fully vaccinated.

Over 608,833 doses of either the Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Sputnik V vaccines have been given in Guyana.

More Pfizer vaccines from COVAX are expected in Guyana today.
