KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, 12 April, 2024 – The Centre for Enterprise Development Inc (CED) will continue its efforts to enhance the capacity of small-scale entrepreneurs to use and benefit from the digital economy to build sustainable livelihoods, with a new training programme, entitled ‘Digital Economy’ next week.
The CED will hold the one-day seminar on Tuesday, 16 April, under the Organization of American States (OAS) Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project. It will be the first of six modules that trainers from various Business Support Organizations (BSOs) across the region have been trained and certified to deliver under the OAS WEE project. Two members of CED’s staff and one from the National Development Foundation (NDF) are among those trained.
Tuesday’s seminar will focus on crucial areas in the digital economy for MSMEs to successfully scale and enter new markets. Upon completion, participants would have gained insights into the tools to run or use digital and online businesses in an environment full of opportunities and challenges for developing economies.
Under this project, CED will also hold trainings on Digitalization and Digital Transformation, Entrepreneurship, Building an Online Presence, Accessing Financial Services, and Market Access
A brief Opening Ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. and will be addressed by the OAS WEE Caribbean Project Manager, Lizra Fabien, and CED General Manager, Ronette Lewis. The seminar will take place at the CED Conference Room.
In August, 2022, the OAS, through its Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI), launched the “Economically Empowered Women for Equitable and Resilient Societies” (Women’s Economic Empowerment–WEE) project in the three countries of the OECS and the northern triangle of Central America (El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras). The three-year project aims to build the capacity of women-led small enterprises to digitize, build an online presence, and access financial services and international markets through e-commerce.
