The Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture, Carlos James, has expressed his unwavering support for the creative community in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Minister James emphasized that if the local talent is not adequately utilized, there is a grave danger of a large portion of that talent going to waste.
The following statement was made by Minister James during the launch of the School Bands Showcase on Monday, April 15th: “I want to convey my unwavering support to our creatives. I am committed to working with you, listening to you, and exploring ways to cultivate your ideas. It is imperative that we take the creative sector to new heights, and I am aware of the tremendous talent that exists. However, we must work together with those who are involved in the artistic direction of the creative sector and the orange economy, to actualize this talent. Failure to do so could result in underutilization of the talent pool.”
The showcase will be held on Saturday 27th April 2024 at the Cruise Ship Terminal Lawn from 1:00 p.m. beginning with a Fair, Steel Pan performances and Young Dejays entertainment, followed by the showcase.
The concept for this year’s showcase is “Free-Up!”, where each school band will perform for fifteen minutes.
