VincyMas and ICC T20 World Cup are set to share the spotlight this year, and the fusion of these two events has been aptly coined as “Runs & Rhythm”. It’s going to be an exciting time for cricket and carnival enthusiasts alike!
The Chairman of the Carnival Development Corporation, Ricardo Adams, has confidently stated that although it has been a tradition for VincyMas to be launched on the first Saturday in May, the decision was taken to revisit that launch period and merge it with the tour of ICC T20 World Cup trophy here in SVG.
He said that the CDC will be looking to capitalize on the attention that the tour of the trophy will bring.
“Organizing the ICC trophy tour was a great chance for us to begin the fusion of Runs and Rhythm. As the whole ICC tournament and our participation in it has been tagged with this slogan, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to showcase our culture and traditions. We had already planned to launch VincyMas this year in a unique way, by moving it out of Victoria Park and taking it to the streets of Kingstown. With a lot of eyes on the ICC trophy tour, we are confident that it will bring additional attention to the launch of VincyMas and help us achieve our goal of promoting our culture to the world.”
The local tour of the ICC T20 World Cup trophy will begin on May 15th and end on May 17th at the Heritage Square. This event is called the VincyMas Super Bowl and it will be the finale of the tour in Bequia. The VincyMas DNA parade will precede this event. Both events will showcase all aspects of the hottest Carnival in the Caribbean, and they will be displayed within 24 hours.
