Law enforcement representatives from across the Caribbean gathered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the 12th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Caribbean Federation of Police Welfare Associations (CFPWA) From May 8-10th. The AGM, held under the theme “Unity, Resilience, and Empowerment: Navigating Challenges, Shaping Tomorrow for Law Enforcement Across the Region,” exemplified a commitment to unity, resilience, and empowerment within the law enforcement fraternity.
President Ricardo Walkes, welcoming participating countries, emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork. He commended the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Commissioner of Police for their swift response in hosting the AGM, showcasing resilience in the face of challenges.
Commissioner of Police for the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, Mr. Enville Williams, expressed gratitude for hosting the AGM and emphasized the critical role of CFPWA in promoting unity, resilience, and empowerment among law enforcement officers across the Caribbean, underscoring its significance in addressing common challenges like transnational crime and terrorism.
Established in Nassau, Bahamas, on May 25, 2007, the CFPWA serves as a vital support system for police officers’ welfare across the Caribbean. With additional countries joining the federation over the years, its regional impact continues to grow.
Mr. Kevan Glasgow, the featured speaker, urged attendees to prioritize their mental, physical, and emotional health. He challenged them to engage in introspection, asking pertinent self-reflective questions about their actions and potential areas for positive change within their environment. His message underscored the importance of self-care and personal accountability in fostering resilience and effectiveness within law enforcement.
