St. Vincent Brewery Limited has reiterated its unwavering commitment to sports, culture, and community development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. At the forefront of this pledge is Country Manager Shafia London, who affirms that the brewery’s success is intricately linked to the vitality of the communities it serves. “We thrive when our communities thrive,” declared London, assuring Vincentians of the brewery’s steadfast support.
The brewery’s 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility report card reveals a strategic shift towards bolstering grassroots cultural activities, STEM education, and youth development. This year’s initiatives have been driven by the “Good Neighbour” Program, an effort to honor the legacy of Hairoun, the brewery’s flagship brand named after the indigenous Kalinago term for the island.
St. Vincent Brewery’s commitment to Vincy Mas remains robust, despite a more diversified sponsorship strategy. The company has already invested over EC$300,000 in various carnival events, including Panorama, Kaiso, Soca, Mas Bands, and rural carnivals, showcasing a comprehensive approach to cultural sponsorship.
In addition to cultural festivities, the brewery has made significant contributions to local sports. The Vita Malt brand has become synonymous with school sports, sponsoring numerous annual inter-house meets and athletic programs. Beyond school sports, the brewery has supported community-level football and cricket tournaments, including those organized by the Diamonite Community Organization and the Marriaqua Softball Cricket Association, among others.
The company’s support extends to national cultural initiatives as well. During National Heroes Day, the brewery provided school supplies to Owia Government School and Fancy Primary School and collaborated with various local organizations to celebrate the nation’s heritage.
For International Women’s Day, the brewery backed the Stubbs/Diamond Police Youth Club’s female mentorship program, providing essential supplies to young women in secondary schools and colleges. They also supported Bethel High School’s inaugural Health and Family Life education fair.
The “Good Neighbour” Program’s reach included Bequia and Union Island, where the brewery sponsored events during the Easter period, promoting local entrepreneurship and traditional coconut boat races for children.
A notable highlight of the brewery’s efforts in youth development was their support for the National Science Fair in May, which aimed to foster a passion for STEM subjects. Under the theme “Innovative Engineering Across Local Industry,” the fair attracted participants from 24 secondary schools, demonstrating the brewery’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of Vincentian innovators.
Reflecting on these extensive efforts, Shafia London expressed immense pride in the brewery’s continuous investment in the nation’s sports, culture, and youth. “We are proud of our unwavering investment in Vincentian sports, culture, and youth,” London affirmed, reinforcing St. Vincent Brewery’s role as a cornerstone of community support and development.
