In the Serious Offences Court on Monday, November 11, 2024, 20-year-old Sibran Allen, a laborer from Chauncey, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of theft. Allen faced charges related to a series of thefts between June 10 and June 15, 2024, targeting an 89-year-old retired tailor, also from Chauncey. The stolen items, including cash and property, amounted to a total of $9,015.00 ECC.
The first offense occurred on June 10, when an ATM card valued at $15 ECC was reportedly stolen in Chauncey. The following day, Allen allegedly stole $400 ECC from a business in Kingstown and later, on the same day, took an additional $600 ECC in Mesopotamia. On June 12, a second ATM card, also valued at $15 ECC, was stolen in Chauncey around 7:00 a.m. The alleged spree continued later that day with two separate cash thefts of $1,000 ECC each, reported on Halifax Street, Kingstown, and in Reigate, Kingstown.
On June 13, $2,000 ECC was reportedly stolen from another business in Kingstown, followed by two further incidents on June 14 and June 15 in Layou, where $2,000 ECC was taken each day.
Appearing solemn, Allen admitted guilt to all charges before the court. The matter has been adjourned until Wednesday, November 13, 2024, when he is set to return for sentencing. Allen has been remanded in custody until then.
