The Paget Farm Court Kings are the new champions of Bequia basketball, defeating Sonics 73–60 in the finals of the 23rd Annual Bequia Basketball Tournament on Saturday, August 30, at the Clive Tannis Hard Court.

The month-long competition, the first since 2022, drew large crowds and marked a strong comeback for the Bequia Basketball Association, which had battled infrastructural challenges in recent years. Court Kings captain Jadley Bynoe led his team to victory, posting 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 block to earn MVP of the Final Game.

The Golden Knights Club also had a standout tournament, capturing titles in both the Under-16 Division and the Second Division, defeating Hornets and Rising Stars respectively.

The finals night was attended by Opposition Leader Hon. Dr. Godwin Friday, who presented trophies to winning teams and players.

Individual performances were also celebrated. East Blazers’ Jermaine John was a dominant force, scoring 104 points across four games to become both his team’s MVP and the Overall MVP of the Tournament. Despite falling in the championship game, the Sonics collected several accolades: Kamol Muckett (Most Rebounds), Nicholas Lewis (Most Assists), and Michael Peniston (Most Blocks). Court Kings’ Rodine Hazell took the award for Most Steals.

In the Second Division, Omarion Frederick of Magic stole the spotlight, sweeping awards for Most Points, Most Rebounds, and Overall MVP. His brother, Shamarke Frederick of Rising Stars, was also named his team’s MVP. Golden Knights’ Kenjay Phillips collected multiple awards, including Final Game MVP, Most Steals, and Most Blocks.

The Under-16 Division showcased the future of Bequia basketball, with Tye Gordon (Hornets) taking Overall MVP, while Shiana King earned Final Game MVP. Promising newcomers Jace McIntosh and Kris Ollivierre were named Rookies of the Year.

Closing the event, Sabrina Mitchell, President of the Bequia Basketball Association, thanked the community, sponsors, and volunteers. She made special mention of non-profit Action Bequia, which funded much-needed electrical repairs to the court, and highlighted contributions from several Bequia businesses. Mitchell also announced upcoming youth camps and a 3X3 competition in November 2025, promising continued growth for the sport.
