Awesome Sports International, a St. Vincent and the Grenadines-based football club headed by former national footballer Renson Haynes, is set to partner with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s Pocket Rocket Foundation to host two friendly football matches in SVG this weekend. The initiative is expected to bring added excitement to the local sporting calendar while also shining a spotlight on youth development through sport.

The first match will be played at Independence Park, also known as Victoria Park, on Friday, April 10, from 6 p.m. The second encounter is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, at the Chilli Playing Field in Georgetown from 4 p.m. ANN understands that the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, through the Ministry of Sports, is also lending support to the event as part of its broader commitment to sports development in the country.

Speaking with ANN, Haynes said he remains deeply committed to the development of sport in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and believes football can be a powerful vehicle for change in the lives of young people. “Football opened many doors for me and gave me opportunities I may not otherwise have had, and I want to help create those same kinds of opportunities for the young people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I am truly thankful to be collaborating with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on such an amazing undertaking, and I also want to thank the Minister of Sports, the Hon. Kamchatka Cupid, for his support of this event. I genuinely believe this is an investment in our talented young footballers,” Haynes said.

The event is also expected to generate major interest because it will mark Fraser-Pryce’s first visit to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Widely recognised as one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated sprinters, she adds international appeal to the initiative and reinforces the broader value of sport as a platform for youth empowerment, discipline, and opportunity
