Kingstown, St. Vincent April 2026–Boom FM, one of St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ most popular radio stations, is reeling from a devastating fire that destroyed its Paul’s Avenue studios last week, leaving damages estimated at more than EC$1 million.

Station owner Dwight “Bing” Joseph confirmed the figure during a radio interview, explaining that while the building itself was insured, the station’s contents including broadcast equipment, archives, and studio infrastructure were not. “It’s something I never expected,” Joseph admitted, describing the financial blow as severe.

Despite the destruction, Boom FM has managed to resume operations through a makeshift FM platform and continues to stream music online. Joseph credited fellow broadcaster Jules Williams of WE FM 99.9 for providing critical support in getting the station back on air.

Public solidarity has been strong. Joseph revealed that he received calls of encouragement from Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday and Opposition Leader Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, alongside overwhelming support from listeners and the business community.

The blaze struck just days before Boom FM was set to celebrate its 11th anniversary on April 13, turning what should have been a milestone into a moment of resilience and recovery.
