Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines April 13, 2026- The shock of gun violence that claimed three lives and left another man wounded over the weekend has unsettled communities across St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Commissioner of Police Envil Williams has responded with a direct appeal to citizens: break the silence, share information, and stand united against lawlessness.
Speaking after the daylight shootings in Stoney Ground and Buccament Bay, Williams warned that silence is the oxygen that allows criminal activity to thrive. “Your anger is justified. Your anxiety is understood. But your silence is the only thing that allows this darkness to breathe,” he said.
Williams emphasized that the fight against gun violence cannot be won by police alone. He urged citizens to resist fear and misplaced loyalty, stressing that even the smallest piece of information could help investigators. “If you possess a single fragment of information, a name, a sighting, a whispered plan bring it forward,” he pleaded.
He cautioned against vigilante justice, warning that private retribution would only worsen the crisis. “Vigilantism is not justice. It is the fuel that feeds the fire. Let the law be your shield and the police your sword,” Williams said.
The Commissioner announced that the Criminal Investigations Department and Major Crime Units are on standby at 4561801 and 4571211, with a QR code system to be introduced in the coming days to allow anonymous tips. He assured citizens that their identities will be protected “with the highest level of confidence.”
Williams said that this is a moment as a test of collective courage, declaring that the violence of a few will not define the nation. “We will reclaim our streets. We will restore our peace. And we will ensure St. Vincent and the Grenadines remain a land where law and order are absolute,” he said.
